Troy Murray, former Chicago Blackhawk forward and current Radio Color Analyst, joins us as Master of Ceremonies for the 2018 Have Dreams Golf Classic.
If you’re not a golfer, that’s ok. Join us for dinner and listen to Troy Murray tell anecdotal stories from his days as a Chicago Blackhawks player and his years as a member of the Blackhawks broadcast team.
Troy Murray is in his 17th year as a member of the Blackhawks broadcast team and his ninth year as the Color Analyst for the team’s radio broadcasts.
Murray was originally selected by the Blackhawks in the third round (51st overall) of the 1980 NHL Draft. He played parts of 12 seasons with the Blackhawks (1981-91, 1992-94), compiling 197 goals and 291 assists in 688 games.
Murray posted his best year in the NHL with Chicago during the 1985-86 campaign, becoming the first Blackhawk to win the Frank J. Selke Award as the NHL’s top defensive forward that year. That season, he notched career highs in goals (45), assists (54) and points (99).
In 2017, Murray and broadcast partner John Wiedeman received top honors in the Chicago Market “Best Radio Play-By-Play” category at the Illinois Broadcasters Association (IBA) Silver Dome Awards, which they also won in 2011, 2014 and 2015. He and Wiedeman also received top honors in the “Best Sports Story” category at the 2012 IBA Silver Dome Awards and the “Sports Play-by-Play” category at the 2011 IBA Silver Dome Awards.
