This self-guided course will give an overview of Autism Spectrum Disorder and cover the principals of the Structured Teaching methodology. We will cover best practice applications and interventions for working with someone with autism in the classroom. Each lecture will include video instruction and demonstration.

BEST with PDHs – Basic Elements in Structured Teaching with Professional Development Hours

This self-guided course will give an overview of Autism Spectrum Disorder and cover the principals of the Structured Teaching methodology. We will cover best practice applications and interventions for working with someone with autism in the classroom. Each lecture will include video instruction and demonstration. Upon registering you will receive a Google Form to complete as you work through the online training. Once completed you will receive the professional development hours for certified teachers in Illinois.

Education Administrator Structured Teacher Training

Our one-hour Administrator Training covers best ways to support a structured teaching classroom. This training includes an experienced elementary principal walking through a structured classroom to show what to look for to best support your students and teachers. Additionally, with the purchase of this training, we are providing our Structured Teaching Checklist for use during your classroom observations to help you drive conversations and feedback with how to best support your structured classroom teachers and students.

ASD and the Library

In this lecture we will be covering Autism 411, how literacy can be affected by autism, tools to use within the library setting to set up your patrons with autism successfully using what is called the structured teaching methodology, and we will do a few demonstration videos on how to adapt a book and a game at different levels for someone with autism.

Structured Classroom Essentials

In this course, a variety of learning modules will be available to help guide you in setting up your classroom for successful learning for people with ASD. Many topics will be covered from classroom visuals and environment, to Flexible Seating, to Informal Assessment and prompting, using and creating Choice Boards and so much more!

Choice Boards

Choice Boards should be used in the classroom as much as possible. This course will cover a variety of different ways to incorporate them more frequently into your students day. We will cover the purpose of a choice board and how it can help support a student's communication and as a result increase on task compliance in the classroom setting.
